Touring the Farms of Hive Mendocino

Herbaceous, sweet, and succulent aromas pounce through the gardens of Hive Mendocino like the many busy bees hard at work. The colas and surrounding leaves sway in the gentle breeze while sappy terpenes and sticky trichomes coat the entirety of our buds and rail the leaflets with sparkles of deliciousness. The earthiness of soil and compost teas add a fertile weight to the air that reminds us how connected to the planet these plants truly are. This is craft cannabis - grown with exceptionally high standards and close attention to detail - and it’s extraordinary.

It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t share this wondrous experience with our buyers. That’s why we offer farm tours to our clients so they, too, can see the love and appreciation that we pour into our crops. The art of cultivation sometimes gets lost in translation as it moves from our buyer’s hands to dispensaries and eventually to the end consumer. But this beauty we encounter each day is a reality we want to share with the world, and by inviting our clients to see the process, they themselves can feel the deep-rooted connection that we have with the plants and pass that on through their brand to their customers.

The Hive Mendocino Cooperative adheres to stricter standards than most in the industry, sustainability being a significant focus. With that comes transparency, an offering we can present by inviting our partners and purchasers to visit our farms. This starts with obtaining essential information from our fellow industry professionals when they fill out the Wholesale Account form on our website. A discovery call is scheduled next where we can get to know them better, and fully understand their wants and needs. At that time, we discuss a date for their visit.

Our farm tours take place on Fridays from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, but before they do, we ask for a copy of a driver’s licenses from all persons attending. We use this information when we send an email to the Designated Responsible Party listed on the associated California cannabis license to ask them for confirmation that those attending are authorized to enter into purchase agreements on their behalf. This process typically takes 7-10 days to verify and coordinate, so our discovery call usually occurs a week or two before the tour does. This vetting process ensures that our farm visitors share our desire for sustainably grown products in the market and encourage our future partnership to flourish into something more meaningful and long-term.

With COVID-19 a current reality, we understand that in-person farm tours may not be possible now or in the near future. Because of this, the Hive Mendocino farms will be filming virtual tours of their gardens and uploading them to their Instagram pages and other media so you can be a part of the process while socially distancing. As we move through the season, we want to invite our clients to join us each step of the way, even if that’s only feasible via the internet. If you have specific questions you would have asked while physically stepping foot on one of our farms, please feel free to reach out to us! We can work with you individually, directly answering your curiosities in a one-on-one environment.

We believe the brands connected to the cultivation side of their business are able to communicate to the masses better than the alternative. Based on our personal morals, we want to see our products in the hands of like-minded brands, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, so if you share our collaborative mindset, we’d love to invite you into our network. As a cooperative of best-in-class farms, we can offer our clients a wide array of in-demand cultivars and multiple harvest dates to keep their inventory consistently full of pristine buds, trim, and fresh-frozen cannabis. All of our batches are available for pre-order, and custom-cultivation requests are always welcome. Learn more about what our wholesale clients experience when working with Hive Mendocino by visiting our Wholesale page. Here, you can join our group of remarkable brands, distributors, and manufacturers that enjoy our many harvests of unique cultivars each year.
